How Phillips Law Group Celebrated Random Acts of Kindness Day
February 20, 2024
Random Acts of Kindness Day took place this year on Saturday, February 17. As a way to celebrate the occasion, Phillips Law Group team members took to the streets of Tempe to encourage people to be kind to one another in a very simple way: by offering compliments to strangers.
Random Acts of Kindness Day 2024
According to the National Day website, Josh de Jong of New Zealand founded National Random Acts of Kindness Day. Today, it is promoted by the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation (RAK), “a nonprofit with a mission of making kindness the norm.”
“We believe kindness can have a positive impact on individuals and society as a whole,” RAK’s website states. “Research has shown that performing acts of kindness can have a positive impact on mental health. By performing acts of kindness, one can reduce stress, anxiety, and depression.”
Phillips Law Group wanted to take part in Random Acts of Kindness Day by going out and encouraging others to be kind. As part of that important task, a few members of the team went out during Random Acts of Kindness Week – which took place February 11-17 this year – and celebrated by going to Tempe Marketplace and inspiring people they met there to compliment strangers.
Phillips Law Group Encourages Kindness
“We’re trying to spread some positivity around,” Christian Conrad, a Marketing Assistant for social media at Phillips Law Group, told a small group she and Social Media Manager Luis Reynoso approached at the Marketplace. After asking if one of the women would compliment a complete stranger for $20, the chain of kindness events began.
The first compliments given out led to more and more people getting involved, and soon enough, kind words were being shared between strangers throughout the location.
“One of them hugged a lady after the compliment, so that was cool!” Luis commented.
Spreading Kindness Every Day
Although Random Acts of Kindness Day is a great opportunity to be kind to others, spreading kindness is something people can actively choose to participate in every single day.
“We know that every small act of kindness can have a ripple effect, inspiring others to be kind,” the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation website notes. “We believe every act of kindness has the potential to inspire positive change in the world.”
We believe the same here at Phillips Law Group, which is one of the many reasons we work so hard to do outreach in our community through various volunteer opportunities. We would love to get more people involved in our community service events, so if you’re interested, please contact us to learn more today!
And remember – always be kind.
