- Staying Safe This Thanksgiving
November 23, 2022
Thanksgiving kicks off an extremely busy time of year for many Americans, marked by beloved traditions and, for some, quite a bit of travel. Whether you’re staying home this year or planning a trip for the holidays, it’s important to keep a few safety tips in mind so you won’t need the help of a personal injury lawyer later.
AAA expects almost 55 million Americans will travel during the long holiday weekend, and much of that travel may involve driving. Before going anywhere, you should be sure your vehicle has been inspected and is in good shape before you hit the road. Never drive if you’re feeling drowsy or fatigued after a big holiday meal, and definitely do not operate your vehicle after consuming alcohol.
You should also be aware that other drivers on the road might not be taking the same precautions as you are, and be sure to stay alert during your drive. If you do have the misfortune to end up involved in an accident this Thanksgiving, make sure to read up on what to do after an accident and get in touch with a car accident attorney without delay.
If you’re staying home for the holiday, there are different safety precautions you should be taking instead. For starters, if you’re having guests over for the Thanksgiving meal, make sure your property is safe for any visitors to avoid premises liability concerns.
While preparing a Thanksgiving dinner, keep any minors away from hot stoves or knives, and be sure your smoke alarms and appliances are all working correctly before any turkey, green bean casserole, or mashed potatoes start cooking. Follow basic cooking safety tips to avoid food poisoning or kitchen injuries, and keep a fire extinguisher close by in case of a fire.
In the event of a Thanksgiving-related injury or other incidents that might result in the need for an attorney, contact the expert personal injury lawyers at Phillips Law Group for assistance. We’ve seen it all, and won’t judge your turkey roasting mishap that involved a defective product, or that injury you got while you were out Black Friday shopping.
Stay safe this holiday, and happy Thanksgiving from the team at Phillips Law Group!
