Community Outreach for the Holidays: How Phillips Law Group Volunteers Gave Back This Christmas Season
December 22, 2023
Phillips Law Group is well-known for its commitment to community involvement year-round, but volunteers from the firm were especially passionate about community outreach for the holidays this season. In the last few weeks, Phillips Law Group volunteers have spread Christmas cheer to many through a series of community outreach opportunities.
Foster Alliance – December 7
On December 7, a few staff members from Phillips Law Group helped fulfill a large bike order for The Foster Alliance, formerly known as Arizona Helping Hands.
Three volunteers worked hard for a couple of hours to get several bikes assembled for the kids that The Foster Alliance serves. They are sure to be excellent Christmas surprises for a few children this year!
Maggie’s Place – December 8
Several volunteers from Phillips Law Group helped Maggie’s Place get set up for the organization’s Christmas party in early December. A few volunteers worked on getting the place ready with festive decorations, while others put together gift bags and presents for the residents that Maggie’s Place serves. The gift bags were filled with soaps, facial supplies, and other delicate items for women who reside there.
Volunteers also wrapped presents for the residents and made sure the place looked especially festive ahead of the party on December 9!
NourishPHX – December 13
This year, Phillips Law Group began a volunteer partnership with NourishPHX, and on December 13, several staff members helped with the organization’s toy drive.
Volunteers started by putting family presents together, then organized them in bags, tagged them, and put them in large bins for easy access for NourishPHX. “Our group of volunteers worked hard, and when we finished 175 groups of families were that much closer to receiving gifts,” Sharon Mews, an Office Support Assistant on the Marketing Team at Phillips Law Group, said of the incredible volunteer opportunity.
“As usual, we brought our smiles, work ethic, and good attitude to the group of volunteers,” she added.
MANA House Tailgate Party – December 17
While many of our volunteer opportunities happen on-location with the organizations we work with, sometimes there’s a chance to switch things up. On December 17, Phillips Law Group sponsored a tailgating party for the veterans at MANA House and helped them have a great time at an Arizona Cardinals game!
Veterans were provided with a ticket to the game along with great food and snacks while they enjoyed the matchup. Several Phillips volunteers and their families cheered the team on alongside the veterans, and a great time was had by all.
Part of the experience included a Brews Haus tailgate party, where those in attendance were served hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, cookies, and soda, and the veterans wore their Phillips Law Group t-shirts and hats at the party with pride.
“Little by little our group of volunteers at PLG are getting to know these precious veterans and their fearless leader Rachel Perez,” Sharon said of the gratifying volunteer opportunity.
“Overall, I would say that everyone had an amazing time, and we made new friends at MANA House.”
MANA House Cards, Decorating, and More – December 21
Finally, Phillips Law Group volunteers got to continue our community outreach for the holidays and work with the MANA House veterans again just a few days later on December 21. Several firm staff members wrote letters on Christmas cards to the veterans ahead of the holidays and decorated personalized ornaments for the residents at MANA House. This prep work was done days before all the special items were brought to the organization this week!
The ornaments – decorated with stickers, paint pens, glitter glue, dots, and more – included matching tags with the name of each veteran on them. The ornaments were then delivered with a matching card and a candy cane each, alongside some delicious cookies for the MANA House residents to enjoy.
The holidays are a great time to give back to your community, and Phillips Law Group has had many amazing opportunities to do so this year. But we have opportunities to volunteer all year long, and we’d love to have you join us for an event in 2024! Please contact our firm if you’d like to know more about our community service efforts.
Happy holidays, from the dedicated volunteers of Phillips Law Group!
