- UA Student Critically Injured in Tucson Pedestrian Accident | Legal News | News Ticker
People who walk to and from destinations tend to understand that when they venture out into the roads that are shared with motorists, they face some level of risk and must trust that those in moving vehicles will avoid disastrous mistakes. Unfortunately, even standing on the corner of an intersection can be dangerous, as a 21-year-old student at the University of Arizona was hit and critically injured on Wednesday in a Tucson pedestrian accident that began as a two-vehicle car accident.
According to witness accounts, this Tucson pedestrian accident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 9:45 a.m. at the intersection of Mountain Avenue and Speedway Boulevard. Two vehicles, including a Toyota and a Chevrolet, collided in the intersection, and the force of the impact caused the Toyota to roll over. As a result, the pedestrian whose name was not released was hit by the rolling Toyota and pinned against a nearby building. She was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Although police have yet to confirm the information, one witness stated that the Toyota ran through a red light at the intersection at a high rate of speed while the Chevrolet was waiting to turn left.
Arizona Pedestrian Accident Statistics
First and foremost, we’d like to offer our hope that the young woman who was critically injured is able to survive and overcome the extreme amount of harm she suffered. It appears she did nothing wrong but was merely in the wrong place at the wrong time. In addition, this Tucson pedestrian accident will now become part of the overall statistics regarding Arizona pedestrian accidents. Every year, more than 1,500 such accidents take place, leading to more than 1,400 injuries and to more than 10 fatalities every month.
Arizona Personal Injury Lawyers
It’s too early to know whether the police investigation will lead to criminal charges. Regardless, it’s still possible for the woman who was injured to file an Arizona personal injury lawsuit against the driver who caused the crash. If such a lawsuit is filed and is successful, it could lead to an award of damages that compensate her for her medical costs, lost income and pain and suffering.
If you or someone you love has been injured by a reckless driver, you need to seek the help of Arizona personal injury lawyers who have been holding those responsible for inflicting this type of harm accountable for many years.
